Paula MacPhee
I had to make Paula the person of the month
for December because it is her favorite time of the year. She
loves saving her money all year long so she can go out and spend
every last cent on her family and friends.
There are so many reasons
why I respect Paula. She is a loving mother of three very active
boys, Justus, Jerico, and Jaeden. She spends most of her "free" time
in the winter at the hockey rink or driving them around from
town to town for games.
She is also married to a wonderful man, Todd. He tends to ground
her when she gets too fired up. And she gets him fired up when
he gets stuck on something. As any relationship there have been
good and bad times, but through it all they have remained strong
beside each other. They are wonderful, loving parents and have
an ability to work out even the most complex issues.
She recently took on the daunting task of enrolling in post
secondary school. I am proud to say that she graduated from college
as a home care nurse, a profession that was meant for her. She
is a nurturer and will give all that she has to help someone
else.
In the years that I have known Paula she has taught me about
self-respect, discipline, and confidence. She has always supported
me and was always around to give me a pat on the back and tell
me that I have to keep going no matter what. She often saw the
light at the end of tunnel when I couldn't. The ups and downs
of life have turned the tides in every direction possible and
through it all we have been there for each other like sisters.
We've shared laughter,
tears, sadness, joy, grief, excitement and love. Even now that
we live on opposite ends of the country we are still as close
as we have ever been. It just goes to show that some things
are meant to be and no amount of distance can tear some friendships
apart. I want to say thank-you Paula, for showing me how to
believe in myself, loving me, and enriching my life. You are
an inspiration to me and I love you.
